pisses me off when i see people on other platforms talk about "everyone" abandoning tumblr after the sex ban and what a big impact that had. THE WEAK LEFT THE STRONG SURVIVED. REAL TUMBLR USERS WILL NEVER STOP. they could make a new update where you can only post 3 words at a time and id still be on here like "hey guys whats"

I know thoughts shaped like this are guaranteed to be wrong but sometimes I feel like I am completely alone in being normal about generative AI. No every piece of software does not need a chatbot. No every developer that adds AI features to their software is not automatically bad. No we shouldn't let companies vacuum up the creative output of the entire human race for profit. No we shouldn't apply the same framework of content ownership to a machine learning process that we do to actual 1:1 copying. No we shouldn't be using it as a replacement for friends or therapists. No it isn't literally driving people insane en masse. No we shouldn't be building thousands of new data centres for questionable benefit without considering the environmental cost. No they aren't going to make the difference between cooking the planet and not cooking the planet. No you shouldn't be getting AI to write your college papers for you. No it's not inherently evil to use it as a research tool. Everyone just calm the fuck down slightly
